LOCAL PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZER ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA

ENCINITAS - Kathi Burns, founder of AddSpace To Your Life!, was recently featured on Good Morning America’s segment about successful women in business. A Professional Organizer and Image Consultant, Burns shared how she began her business for less than $200 and now successfully organizes space (such as garages and offices), objects and paper clutter, data and computers, and time. “I work one-on-one with people to clear the way to greater personal and business fulfillment by creating systems to reduce wasted time, energy, and clutter,” said Burns, a national columnist and speaker. “My goal is to help my clients create a life that they control, rather than one that controls them.”

For more information Burns invites anyone to sign up for her free eTips on organizing and wardrobe at www.addspacetoyourlife.com or to contact her at [email protected] or 760-840-9997.

  1. Hi Kathi,

I love organizing things and am quite good at it. Due to a layoff last week, am contemplating putting my skills to work to possibly earn a living that way, or at least earning half a living. I live in North Carolina so wouldn’t pose any competitive threat to you.

Are there any tips on helping me get started in that direction? I’ll be speaking with my outplacement agency later this week but am doing some of my own research at this point.

Thank you for any information you can share.
    Sincerely,
    Phyllis Brandon
    Sanford, NC

  2. Hi Phyliss,

Check into our national organization, NAPO. This stands for the National Association of Professional Organizers. Our website is http://www.NAPO.net.

If you have a local chapter nearby, attend the monthly meetings and get to know others that are already working in the field. You might find the opportunities to get experience and meet Organizers that are looking for apprentices or subcontractors. This way you can communicate directly with other Organizers and gain more knowledge of our industry.

Best wishes for your career change!
