STOP…CHALLENGE…CHOOSE
A friend/client sent emailed this to me and I thought you might also be interested in reading it. As a Professional Organizer, I know it takes a good 4-6 weeks to ingrain a new habit into your life. Here is a great method to eliminate old habits that no longer serve your life right now:
“Stop…Challenge…Choose” is a powerful technique to disarm automatic reactions to bad habits.
Use this technique anytime you become aware of an unhealthy thought, feeling, or action to awaken your conscious thought process and stop your conditioned response in its tracks.
Try this technique:
Next time you are at a party or a restaurant and are tempted to overeat:
1. STOP and take a deep, slow breath to help bring your emotions under control.
2. CHALLENGE yourself by thinking about WHY you’re feeling or acting the way you are.
3. CHOOSE the behavior that supports what you really want. (Better health, more energy, clothes that fit, etc.)
The most important tool for creating new sustainable, healthy habits is…..the Power of CHOICE!
