Hi Kathi,

I just saw you in a link with Natalie from Mind Movies and am looking through your website for answers to some of my questions. One that I don’t find an answer to is about the best colors for me.

I was color analyzed 20 or so years ago using the Color Me Beautiful method and was told that I’m a spring. I have fair skin, hazel eyes and (back then) I had strawberry blonde hair. With age my hair has significantly grayed and although I color it, I opt for a more blonde rather than strawberry color. I find the color fades so quickly that I have to color every 3 weeks to maintain the red tone, and I can neither afford the time, expense or effort to do it that often. I sometimes think I should just “go gray” but my colorist (and a good friend for many years) says “never!” so I am a light blonde.

Anyway, my question for you is about how to adapt my spring wardrobe palette to blonde hair that doesn’t have the golden/reddish colors of my youth.  I am 54 but still youthful, a trim size 10 at 145#, and 5’8” tall.

I appreciate any advice you can share with me.

 Regards, Bonita

Hi Bonita,

Thanks for your email! Yours is a very interesting question. For starters, I think that you will look fantastic with gray hair. Look how well your mom pulls it off!

Regarding your lack of orange tones, maybe you can add a bit by warming up your color palette a bit?

Quite honestly, I cant be certain without seing you in person and holding a few color swatches up to your face. Why dont you try this with a friend whom you trust, maybe your hair stylist? If I saw you in person, I would experiment with reds, warmer orange hues vs cooler hues to see what happens with your complexion.

Sorry that I cant be of more assistance.
